There comes a moment in life when something subtle—but undeniable—shifts.
You can’t quite go back to who you were…
But you’re not fully clear on who you’re becoming.
It can feel disorienting.
Even unsettling.
And yet—this moment holds profound meaning.
I call it The Dragonfly Moment.
The Space Between Identities
A dragonfly doesn’t begin its life in the air.
It lives in the water first—often for years—before it ever takes flight.
And when the time comes, it doesn’t simply decide to fly.
It undergoes a transformation so complete…
that it becomes something entirely new.
There is a moment in that process—
a sacred threshold—
where it is no longer what it was…
but not yet fully what it will be.
This is where many of us find ourselves, especially in the second half of life.
When the Old Self No Longer Fits
You may notice it quietly at first:
- Roles that once defined you feel limiting
- Goals that once drove you feel empty
- Ways of being that once worked… no longer do
You might even try to go back.
To revive an old identity.
To re-enter a familiar version of yourself.
But something in you knows:
That chapter is complete.
This is not failure.
This is evolution.
The Discomfort of Becoming
The Dragonfly Moment is not always graceful.
It can feel like:
- Uncertainty
- Restlessness
- Loss of direction
- A quiet grief for who you used to be
This is the part we often resist.
We want clarity.
We want answers.
We want to arrive.
But transformation doesn’t rush.
It asks you to stay present in the unknown.
To trust what is emerging… even before it fully reveals itself.
Why This Moment Matters
This is not just a transition.
It’s an initiation.
Because in this space, something powerful is happening:
You are being invited to:
- Release identities that were built on expectation
- Reclaim parts of yourself you left behind
- Reconnect with a deeper truth that has always been within you
This is where you stop living from conditioning…
and begin living from essence.
From Doing to Being
Earlier in life, much of our identity is shaped by doing:
Achieving
Providing
Proving
Becoming
But in this stage, something shifts.
The question is no longer:
“What do I need to do to become someone?”
It becomes:
“Who am I… when I stop trying to be someone else?”
This is the heart of the Dragonfly Moment.
Trusting the Emergence
The dragonfly doesn’t force its wings to form.
It doesn’t rush the process.
It allows the transformation.
And then—when the time is right—
it rises.
Your becoming works the same way.
Not through force.
But through awareness.
Through presence.
Through willingness.
Even now, something within you is unfolding.
A Different Way to See Aging
What if aging isn’t about decline…
but about refinement?
Not about losing yourself…
but about shedding what was never truly you?
The Dragonfly Moment invites you to see this stage of life not as an ending—
but as a becoming.
A return.
A remembering.
A rising into who you’ve always been beneath the roles, expectations, and patterns.
A Reflection for You
Pause for a moment and gently consider:
- What part of my old identity am I being asked to release?
- Where in my life do I feel “in between”?
- What might be trying to emerge through me right now?
You don’t need immediate answers.
Just your willingness to listen.
You Are Not Lost—You Are Becoming
If you find yourself in this space…
uncertain, in-between, no longer who you were—
know this:
You are not off track.
You are not behind.
You are not lost.
You are in the Dragonfly Moment.
And something beautiful is taking shape.
