You say you want to grow.
You sign up for classes.
You read the books.
You nod your head at insights that feel undeniably true.
And yet…
Something doesn’t move.
Or it moves for a moment—then quietly resets.
Not because you’re failing.
Not because you’re not ready.
But because there is a part of you that does not want to change.
And it has very good reasons.
The Hidden Loyalty
Every Enneagram pattern is built on a deep, unconscious loyalty.
A strategy that once kept you safe.
A way of seeing the world that helped you belong, succeed, or survive.
For a Six, it might be:
- Staying vigilant so nothing goes wrong
- Questioning so you don’t get blindsided
- Seeking certainty before you act
This pattern isn’t the problem.
The attachment to it is.
Because at some level, your system believes:
“If I let this go… something bad will happen.”
Why Insight Isn’t Enough
You can understand your type.
You can even see your patterns in real time.
But transformation doesn’t happen at the level of insight.
It happens at the level of identity.
If your identity is still organized around:
- “I have to be careful”
- “I can’t fully trust myself”
- “I need to be prepared”
Then any change will feel like a threat—not a liberation.
So you hesitate.
You stall.
You circle back.
Not because you’re stuck.
Because you’re protecting something.
The Turning Point
Real change begins the moment you stop trying to override the pattern…
…and start listening to it.
Not indulging it.
Not believing everything it says.
But understanding:
What is this part of me afraid would happen if I changed?
That question alone can open a doorway.
Because now you’re not fighting yourself.
You’re working with the intelligence that created the pattern in the first place.
The Deeper Invitation
This is where the Enneagram becomes more than a personality system.
It becomes a path.
A path that asks:
- Can you see your pattern without trying to fix it?
- Can you feel the fear underneath it without running from it?
- Can you begin to trust something deeper than the strategy you’ve relied on?
This is the leap.
Not from one behavior to another.
But from who you think you have to be…
to who you actually are.
If You’re Ready
Most people stop at awareness.
A few are willing to go further.
To see not just what they do…
But why they can’t stop doing it?
And more importantly, what becomes possible when they no longer need to.
That’s the work we do inside Uncover the Power of the Enneagram.
Not learning more.
Becoming more.
